We've Achieved A Lot

The Independent covers our campaign

One of our leaders speaks to The Independent about our work within the national Citizens UK campaign to get misogyny recognised as a form of hate crime, which has led to Mayor of Greater Manchester pledging support.

Achieving overwhelming support for monitoring hate against women and girls in Greater Manchester

In October 2019, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) released a survey about hate crime in Manchester. Due to our tireless campaigning efforts throughout the year previously, the first question in the consultation asked whether hate against women and girls should be monitored. We spent months spreading awareness on the consultation, and have recently found out that misogyny hate crime recognition received overwhelming support from respondents. GMCA and GMP now have their own evidence base showing that men and women across the city want misogyny to be recognised as a hate crime.
